Enabling Agile Development with Cool Tools

Black Marble are joined by DevExpress’ Gary Short for this afternoon looking at agile development and cool tooling.

During the first half of this afternoon, Black Marble’s Richard Fennell will be exploring how the tools and the process allow the team to communicate both internally, with team members, and externally, to their customer, in a far more efficient manner. So while agile development is at its core about people and enabling them to communicate better – the tooling should be not be ignored.

At this event we will show how using the tools within Visual Studio 2010, focused around the new ALM Scrum Template for TFS, a team can plan and track their work more efficiently.

For the second half, guest speaker Gary Short will be discussing How to Eat an Elephant or, how to architect a codebase wide refactoring project. In this advanced refactoring session, we’ll look at such things as functional decomposition, code criticality, the correctness continuum, sub-tree refactoring index and prioritisation. All these terms will be defined, explained and demonstrated, so that by the end of this presentation you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to architect such a refactoring project… or eat an elephant, whichever you prefer.
